..... but one thing for sure we will see a USS Enterprise NCC-1701-A in the upcoming 2017 Star Trek TV series.

Nope . CBS have already said that it will be a Prime verse show and will have nothing to do with the JJ verse.

"The new television series is not related to the upcoming feature film Star Trek Beyond, which is scheduled to be distributed by Paramount Pictures in summer 2016." - CBS

Oh Wow, My sources were wrong. Oh well either way JJverse or Prime Verse, looking forward to seeing Star Trek back on the Small Screen.

Looked at the trailer again, this time without sound. For some reason the trailer looked a lot better this time, so I guess it's the song choice that made me cringe last time.

But as I said in previous post here; I'll reserve my judgement to the movie.

So yes, I'll see it. :)

I'm glad that it is the prime verse. I like JJ's verse fine but there is something about the original that I appreciate more.

Was that a NX class towards the end of the trailer? Sure looks like one.

The ship at the end looks a little bit like the NX01.

And the main villain looks more like one of the Jem'Hadar, sans Ketrecel White tubes.

Probably, but I'm thinking that it'll end up in the credits.

Each trailer that comes out makes me think even more that I'll like this as a movie but not a Trek movie.

To be honest they should have just thrown the classic TOS pinstripes and called it a day.

I do think it is proportionally worse now, and I thought the wider impulse engine was a bit wonkers too. Oh well...

It's amazing how much better the ship looks when you just change the coloration. The warm colors also help it stand out from the usual modern heavy use of blue for tech in sci-fi.

Agreed. But I guess they were trying to invoke more of a movie era feeling.
What annoys me is not that the JJprise is hideous (it isn't... not totally) - it's that if they had made just a few minor tweaks it would have looked SO much better!
Case in point, may I present (after about ten minutes work) the Wiley Coyote JJprise... and the KJprise (patent pending ;) )

Thanks for the ship cutaway images. I wish someone would do an Incredible Cross Sections book for Star Trek like they did for Star Wars.

I think I used to have one of those when I was a kid.

Well, I saw the movie last night...and I actually enjoyed it. A few quibbles here and there, but it was definitely a better movie than Into Darkness, and did have a good authentically Trek feel for a lot of it. At least from my perspective.

I have seen Star Trek Beyond this morning. I will say that I have enjoyed the new movies, even with some of the glaring plot holes in them. That said, IMO, this is the best one yet. Also, it seems to my unprofessional eye, that the plot hole in this movie is a whole lot smaller. I will not say anymore to prevent any spoilers but I do recommend this movie. It does seem to me that it is more true to past Trek than the past two.

...now I'm just waiting for background info and the DVD release so I can have fun doing fanfic with the new aliens.

I enjoyed as well. The story seemed more focused than Into Darkness, if a bit contrived. Also I like the use of music to defeat the enemy. Somebody's been watching Macross.

"Beyond" really felt closer to the classic TOS style and tone. Some elements were hit and miss but overall quite solid. Visuals were equally impressive too - 8/10 from me.
