• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Well, got it to work except building ships. Tried with Borg. In bbase.odf change classLabel to "research" and add research = 1. Delete or comment out the buildItem for the construction ship and mining freighter and the buildHardpoint line and builder_ship = 1. Then add the buildItem lines from a research station. You'll have to change the podHardpoints to match actual hardpoints on your starbase. Adjust your techtree so the pods don't require the research station and it works.

For some reason you just can't build ships as it crashes to desktop. Wish there was a way to build both ships and pods. Since you're not building research stations you could double or more the time and resources to build each research pod to balance it out?
Please keep us updated! My person A2 mod would really benefit from your system.

Well, it largely works in that you can make your main starbase research technology. It just can't have buildHardpoint and podHardpoints function at the same time. The "research" classLabel must forbid building ships. I also just realized that the "starbase" classLabel is what lets you slowly accumulate crew so when I changed it to research I no longer gained crew outside of colonizing planets. So, I like the idea I posited earlier but it ultimately doesn't accomplish what I wanted.

On another note, does anyone use the Patch Project 1.2.5 from the FO team in stock A2. Does it cause any issues at all?

That sucks. I'm not a fan of colonizing planets.

I use 1.2.5 a ton. Outside of issues installing it in GoG A2, it's no different than vanilla A2. Not sure what it all goes...but it is required for MVAM and Saucer Separation on ships that aren't the Galaxy (because the devs hard-coded it the ability to the Galaxy)

Hello:
The Patch Project 1.2.5 is extremely useful, it also allows you to have Unimatrix-style starbases because you can now add crew, and other functions, to the pods: shipyards, weapons, etc.

The alternative is to use the Classic Armada2 project, I use the one by Apoclaydon/Blade, and it comes with all goodies of the Patch Project 1.2.5 by default and the game runs much more smoothly thanks to FleetOps' engine.

What issues did you run into installing into a GOG version of A2? Wanting to try this but thought I'd ask first.
