• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

Hi All. Hope you are all doing well in these times. I am having a strange issue and am looking for help. I have a modded version of the Star Wars Fleet Command mod on my desktop and 2 versions inside FO as mods. I also have 4 modded versions of regular Armada 2 on my desktop that all worked last year. I haven't modded in a year. I went to play today and tried all of them and none work inside FO or as stand alone mods on my desktop.

I can play FO and the Armada 2 Classic and my Upgrade Project mod still inside FO, but not the other 6 mods. This seems very strange and I've tried different compatibility modes to no avail. I'm at a loss why 6 different mods would just now not work. Any thoughts? I double click the icon and the splash screen comes up, but then goes away and nothing. I can't even get to the main screen to choose instant action.

A while back I had this strange problem where STA2 Classic wouldn't start at all. Leading to a CTD or error message the moment I booted FleetOps. I traced it back to my anti-virus program. So I have to disable it whenever I want to run A2, which is annoying.

Thanks Jet. I use Avast and always have and just checked that the program is in the allowed aps so that's not it. I could try disabling it to see if it works then. I'll keep trying other ideas too

+1 to AV being a possibility. I once had issues with just vanilla A2 because the AV quarantined a file from every installation. Took a while to find that one!

Thanks kjc. I disabled my AV last night and still no luck. I also tried playing Armada I and can't play it either. Not sure what changed on my system from last fall to now?

It's really weird I can play Fleet Ops and I can play the A2 Classic mod and 1 other personal mod in FO, but none of the other mods iin FO work? I thought maybe an SSD problem, but all other games work. I also tried to reinstall A2 from the disc, but can't do that either. It gives me the opion to Play, Reinstall Again or Uninstall. When I click Reinstall it starts then a box pops up saying it can't run because Uninstall is currently running and to close that before I can install it, but uninstall shouldn't be running on anything. This one has me stumped.

This may be a long shot, but try changing the directory of the entire FO and mods to an all new folder or location in the hard drive.

I did try that too Jet. Created a new folder on my main HD instead of my gaming one and drug everything there, but no go. I can't even install a new copy fresh from the disk. I may have to try DOSbox or something or else my A2 days may be over :(

This is why I moved onto Sins, A2 is that dated it's more trouble than it's worth for me plus it got stale for me after 20 years haha.

Haha, I hear ya. Well, finally figured out why the Star Wars mod wasn't working in FO. It was referencing a parent mod that I no longer had installed. Changed that and can now use my mod with FO. The regular version of A2 though is a no go still in Win10. I've just been needing a Star Wars fix so glad I can at least play it through FO now. Empire at War just wasn't cutting it
