• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. The short answer for mine is "I can't remember". However, I have theories...

I watched a BBC documentary about the Atlantis legend and the Thera eruption that may have inspired the stories. I found it quite interesting, and a while later when I started up an RPG (which never got off the ground), I named the ship USS Atlantis. Leading from this, the first mod ship I made for A1 became the USS Atlantis. Then the story's a bit similar to Majestic's; Atlantis always became the surviving 'flagship', etc.

There was also something about that, whilst I was a fast and agile runner etc, I sank like a stone (not being able to swim in any other direction than downwards, until recently).

I'd also like to point out that I named myself Atlantis in 2001, before Stargate stole the name for their new series. =P

Wow a place for me to tell the story, I have been asked over the years where I got my Screen Names but never put it down someplace, so this will be fun.

First let me start with my User names Here:
Jasoneagle
Jasoneagle is the real name of my First D&D character and main character in a book That I was writing at the time. I use this name almost all the time now as I have gotten real quick at using it (also was my password for the military maintenance system.)

the other name I used was Grayeagle (not many places but a few) This is the Name given to Jason in my books by the Triad of Avaions, for his past was unknown to all.

my other screen name I have had since the early days of Yahoo it is Hyper_fool
I got mad at a lot of sites that would not let me take that name so i added _80 on some.. as for what this name means well I was very into Knights and Kings and such but my fav was the Court Jester (my old character in the Midway game) and I loved hyperspace (as some people referred to the net than) so I am the original fool for hyperspace.

Don't usually post unless there's something useful to say, but felt the need to explain mine, which dates way back to the first time I tried to get an email. The kjc comes from my initials (trust me, any variations on name were already taken!). The 733 was from my first callsign, Alpha 733, as I was partway through a gliding course.
I've never felt the need to move away from it, and I still use my original email.

Back to my hiding place.

Yeah funny how the one ship always seems to survive huh? The Atlantis was Sovereign wasn't it?

Thats true, we also had to rename Red Ash due to it.

i could have sworn i posted in this thread...

or maybe it was another one.

anyway.

I'm not exactly sure how i came up with "Wheller"

my first Internet User name was going to be "Wheeler." after another Character i had created. but in my rush to make it. i had spelt it wrong. and i didn't notice until a week later when a friend of mine had pointed it out to me. so i ran with it.

I've also been told that it is a somewhat Common surname. (or at least an alternate spelling of one. "Weller") but i have never made the acquaintance of anyone with it.

Hmmm dinosaurJR;

Well - Im sure that some of you are aware of the band "Dinosaur jr"

I like them - but that isnt the whole story - you see, I only really came to modding late (I think i was 25) and the likes of Joel, Ash and others were a little younger than me... hence the dinosaur - the JR, well thats my initials... Just like in Dallas...

so, dinosaurJR

I honestly cannot believe that I've never posted in this thread. I am shocked! Now that I've seen it though, I feel it is my duty to explain myself; that being, my current name, and my past ones. :p

* I should note, my name changes have (mostly) been centered around FileFront, and their Forums annually name changing amnesty. I usually changed my name there, and then changed it elsewhere afterward.

1) SupaStarAsh: I'm not sure if people here will remember me when I had that name, but that was my first. Any game I played, and Forum I was on, and online profile I had, 'SupaStarAsh' was my name, and / or username. Why? I don't know. At the time, it seemed kind of catchy, and to be fair, I was quite young when I first started out.

2) Tycoon: This one I choose because (at the time) I was usually playing Rollercoaster Tycoon, or Zoo Tycoon. I figured something short and sweet (and perhalps more mature) was in order. Not being able to think of anything else on the spot, I choose Tycoon.

3) Transmission: Another one that I choose simply because I was bored of Tycoon. I hadn't played the games for a while, and Tycoon (when looked up on Google) ain't really anything exciting. Just a bunch of rich guys who wont share their money.

4) Aerilon: Some of you may get this, others not so much. For those that wont, allow me to explain: Battlestar Galactica, more so the new series (I never watched the old). I am an Aries by Birth (22nd March). Aerilon is one of the planets / tribes of Kobol in the new BSG series, and is based off the Aries starsign. I wanted something unique (rare, that few others would have), meaningful (matches with my star sign), and at the same time, sensible (nothing childish or whatever).

And there we have it; a history of my name changes. This one, I'll be sticking with too. ;)

It's lame but Huet is the "surname" from my account in an online..."game"...called SecondLife. I actually met my wife through SL 3 years ago, emigrated to Germany just over 2 years ago and now we have a kid and a house. Huet just kind of stuck with me and I still use it in games and on forums every so often.

I thought I posted here. Obviously I didn't so I guess I will now.

The Computer Assisted Biologically Augmented Lifeform, or CABAL, was a character in C&C Tiberian Sun and it's expansion, Firestorm. He was the tool used to interface with your troops when playing as Nod and running almost everything related to your base behind the scenes. Naturally, like any fictional AI with above human intelligence and access to lots of power, things eventually go horribly wrong, with CABAL unleashing a cyborg army and nearly taking over the world.

I like him because his voice is simply fun to listen to and because a scene or two hint that his motivations may be more complex than they first seem. Too bad EA killed him off in back story before his character was fully developed.

Don't worry you are not the only one

Katala is one of my fav characters from a series of books I *did* own and love to read by Raymond E. Feist *did meaning I owned the whole collection until my ex hid them all when I left so I wouldn't take them tho Maj is helping me to rebuild the collection*

Katala came from a region known as Thuril and her race was a warrior race but also used as slaves by others known as the Tsurani as the Thuril were considered barbarians just because they were not Tsurani.. I first encountered Katala in the first book of the growing series called Magician.

I made a character on World of Warcraft in 2005 called Katala and it has stuck with me since though most people from then on have called me just Kat.

I haven't posted here either, so it's time for that now :) .

Well, my username is self explanatory as well. So I'll go to the history behind me choosing it:
I have liked the Borg from the very moment I saw them the first time. And they ended up becoming my favorite race, so then I registered on new sites, I always used a Borg username. Though I didn't choose Borg Queen at first those times. But people kept calling me for Borg Queen anyway, and I also became leader of a Trek club here in Norway which got others to call me for Borg Queen even more.
So that nick kind of got stuck with me as I got used to it. Thus I use it now on every new sites I register to, unless it's already taken.

Whut? I haven't posted here yet?

I've been using the nickname Terra since I was a small boy. Which confused some people, since it is a female noun. I was a real SciFi kid and totally into running around in the universe, so my nickname denotes my point of origin, if you will. And then, when I joined A2Files (must've been two years ago), it wouldn't let me in with the Terra nickname, so I appended the _Inc. Two years of productive modding and lulz ensued. :)

Well, since i just feel like dragin this out into the open, i'd be good for me to explane my name, just for the fun of it.

Before i used Styer Crisis, i haad a whole plethora of aliases, the list in cronilogical order goes as follows, and if your wondering why so many names its because, whenever i started a new PC game i chose a new screen name, so the iimaginative storys would not conflict

Tritian (Taken from king arthurs knight: tristan)
Frost (Taken From my skin colour, i'm talking almost pale)
Stasis (Guess)
Karido (Taken from a Mech Commander 2 warring House)
Mercilis (Taken from a kings name, he led the Hittites i belive)
Styer Inferno (Can't remember)
Styer Onyx (Taken from the stone)
Styer Obsidian (See last reason)
Styer Everest (Taken from the Mountain)

And finaly: Styer Crisis, this was a little trickyer

Styer: The reason i chose it is beyond me to say the least, but, i do know that steyr is an austrian (Not Austrailian) gun company, Famous for their gun The Steyr AUG, a somwhat futureistic looking gun that looks like the AR from Halo.
Note: Styer is actualy my Aliases last name, even though its said first.

Crisis: This is quite simple, when i first started playing fleet ops, i always played as feds, well, one game me and an A.I mercilisis Dominion got into it, and i got a veteran Deffiant Class ship, the USS Crisis, the game drug out from 3 more hours while this little ship killed 226 enemey ships. Plus at the time i also liked playing the Xbox 360 Game: Crysis, both helped me to pick this as my next and Final Screen Name, i will never change it again.

Story Intergration: On the planet i come from, close to the center of the galaxy, the people live in sectioned districts, and each person is given as a sort of last name, the name of their district, thus i come from the district Styer. when a child is born, he or she is imedilately given a noun based name, but when this person passes the trials of Grither(a sort of right of passage), their name is Taken from them by a figure known as The Forgotten; erased from their memory, and this person goes on to chose for himself an adjective based name, to be given honor and prestige, after his many conquests. My conquest was the Alpha quadrant. All this was part of a story i hashed out when i first started modding, so that when i had the required skills, i could recreate this story in full. I Called it Star Trek: Futures End. The name sturcture is simalar to a Bajoran name in that the last name is first and the first name is last. the reason for this is because Crisis Styer just sounds Tachy.:lol2:

Welp there ya have it, My Name 101

Not meaning to necro an old-ish thread (trust me, seeing other threads I have been so tempted to necro those too lol)

Username: Ragnar

The current username I use on this site isn't actually the one I use most commonly, but the one that some of you on this site would remember me by.

Originally, the name started off as ragnar603, which in turn was derived from the word "Ragnarok" and the number 603 (obv. lol). I was a fair bit younger when I came up with this and it just stuck with me.

The current username I use on almost every other site is "MightyLampshade" (also my XBL gamertag), and I came up with that one day after seeing some randomer called Lampshade. It made me laugh for ages at the absurdity and randomness of the name, so I chose MightyLampshade as it was 15 letters and fitted perfectly as my XBL gamer tag :lol2:

Zelph, the username I currently go by, was the name of an Ancient American warrior - the story being most likely apocryphal - I learned about as a kid.

Always thought it was cool, so I've used it as an online name for a few years now. Before that, on FF, I went by ss2gohan.

I've been using "karanua" since the days of telnet, actually long before that it was my handle on DECNet in the late 80's. The original version of the internet was developed I'm lead to believe from the remnants of the intranet we had at Digital Equipment Company called DECNotes.

So I believe that on and off I've been using it some twenty three years.

dvatreknerd314 is something I came up with that has my initials (dva), something about me (treknerd), and my favorite number (314, since I can't always do 3.14).

You know, it's sad, but I didn't pick up on the fact treknerd was part of your username until I read this just now...

...Also didn't notice until I typed this that that post was made about two years ago haha.

My user name goes back to when I was in early high school. My friends and I were talking about how you get a "native american indian name" and we saw a dead duck on the side of the road. I became Mangled Duck. Its pretty messed up, but I ended up using that as my original AIM screen name and it stuck through modding. Now its just easy to remember:)

Sadly it’s just my first initial last name... I really need to come up with better usernames. Maybe I will change it later to something more meaningful

Hi all! So appreciative of the work you put into this great game from my teen years ahaha. I've been rewatching DS9 with my partner who's watching for the first time; my username means that Miles O'Brien is really the "Neelix" of DS9 lol. He gets no story arc, is just the "bro" buddy of Bashir, episodes featuring him / Keiko are cliched stories about marriage, and he gets stuck with the most thankless storylines, like the one with him as a Starfleet spy trying to infiltrate the Orion Syndicate.
