Thank you.
And a progress update - new phasers, new secondary deflector, raised bridge and a raised glowy dome thingy.
Next up will probably be the nacelle remap... oh joy

Thanks all, and I'll confess I'm falling in love. May have to do some pictures alongside my Intrepid when she's done. I'm now debating with myself how much physical detailing I want to add. I'm thinking adding a small torpedo trench, an indent for the big windows and maybe some plating around the saucer impulse drives. We'll see... First I need to tweak the uv's to tidy up the distortions.

won't be telling what the others are.
Seraphim and Intrepid II? :D

High praise Major very high praise indeed.

I'm starting to wander if we could get the seeker on Fleet yards or The Journal of Applied Treknology

She is indeed beautiful. I have gotten my copy of MS3D working so I am seriously thinking of dipping back into modeling. Some of the TOS ships they created for STO have inspired my imagination.

Would be great to see you pumping out models again. :)

Last post was in July...
I've been a bit busy. Anyway, a new profile shot on our curvy calendar gal. UV's are finally remapped and I'm doing a few minor alterations to add some physical detail. We've also done a test export to prove that Jetfreak can actually use her (as that could be embarrassing).

So to keep my mind occupied I've started work on a request I got on DA for a refit Excelsior. Early days yet.

You could say that, I think they are going to be my standard slipstream nacelle.
The problem with the Excelsior is that the proportions are all wrong. The only reason it looks good is because it's what we expect an Excelsior to look like. Change something and it just starts to look wrong.

I think it more about balance and flow in retraining the ship identity over all my friend

Dang kjc, that back slope on the refit Excelsior looks as smooth as buttah! Melikes! It's still very much an Excelsior only, not...

Great work!

That's what I was going for. Now working on the neck and deflector, nut no pics as someone borrowed my memory stick.

Got my memory stick back. New pictures. I'm still working on the neck and deflector, this is a first cut.

Topside is done aside from some tidying of the mesh.
Lower side still needs some work.
And the upper forward is definitely the best side!

Been a busy week so not much time for modelling. I have however spent a bit of time working on textures and I've slapped on an early cut on the saucer and nacelles.
I'm still not sure what to do about the underside of the saucer. I don't think the old style sensor array will work well, nor do I like my placeholder dome. I've been considering an arrow shaped yacht. Anyone think a yacht would be out of place on an Excelsior?
As ever, the comparison piece is one of Aad's which is in the download section.

I'm not sure about a yacht on an Excelsior. Nice work, by the way!

Between work, family and Stargate reruns I've not had a lot of time to spend on my Excelsior. I've decided against the yacht, although I'm not happy with the current hood ornament.
I have however had a fair bit of time to experiment with hull paneling, with the new style textures shown in the new images.

EDIT - How about a secondary deflector/slipstream projector/temporal sensor thing for slipstream?
(third picture added)

Hello:
Considering how the Sovereign was made having the Excelsior as one of the inspirations, it is only fair to repay the favour, and I can see that in your design, specially in pic3 :) .

The Excelsior was meant to be a platform for the Transwarp experiment, so I agree that you should make this one also a testbed for a fancy new technology.

Nice design, but have given thought to maybe shortening the neck and the nacelle pylons? It would move the saucer and nacelles closer to the main body and achieve the "slipstream" look your going for.
