Sad to report that yesterday (May 27th), the actor Jeff Conaway was taken off life support following a battle with pneumonia exacerbated by opiate abuse.

He was best known as Kenickie in Grease and as Zack Allen in Babylon 5, but he had a long and varied career in both film and television

Very sad to hear this, I'll always remeber him a Zack Allen from Babylon 5, may he rest in peace :(

He was great in Babylon 5 and will be remembered. It's hard to think that is was actually 60, I still see him as the 40 year old in B5.

:(

He became a fan of Babylon 5 as it started to air and was subsequently allowed to play the role of then Deputy Security Chief Zack Allen on the show during its second season.

It's sad it had ended this way. I remember that he once did a reality TV-show where he made his alcohol, cocain and opiate abuse public and tried to battle it (never watched such a show myself, though).

I hope his relatives and friends find a way to cope with the loss.

Yeah, was following this story after he was hospitalised (again). So sad to see him go out this way. He will be missed.
And so sad we've lost yet another one of our beloved cast 'gone before their time'
God bless all of them

I remember that he once did a reality TV-show where he made his alcohol, cocain and opiate abuse public and tried to battle it (never watched such a show myself, though).

My wife caught about seven minutes of the show. She said it was the most depressing seven minutes of television she'd seen in her whole life. The show followed him, and his treatment for addiction, over more than one season, apparently. He was regularly there. It's just terrible to see what addiction can do to people like Mr. Conaway. And it's tragic that it had to end this way.
