That is a lot of lol's, that's one thing that's 4sur.
Srsly!
Well I don't know you I'll still go ahead and welcome you back
I was once Evenstar on here, and am "Elrond's" sister in law. I went sorta kinda inactive for too long, and got removed from the member list (reasonably so as I probably only had 5 posts LOL!) Plus I'm 23. That'll be useful later on in this post.
So, basically my only relationship to this site so far is that Elrond got me involved in a lotta things online, and I know CrazyFrog from some MSN discussions (somehow or another). I'm not into the game Star Trek Armada, though have played it twice with the Fleet Ops Patch thing and Fleet Ops, and I think it was pretty awesome compared to the one time I played the game without it.
For anyone to know more about me that could be relevant, I'm into the following:
Mass Effect series. It's a more realistic version of the future, and it doesn't have so many generic human-like races like Vulcans, Romulans, and Klingons. More like Geth, Krogans, Asari, Drell, etc.
The Sims II and III. These games are just awesome! I was actually getting into the Sims back when I was around 16, when playing the Pets expansion for the original Sims.
Fan fictions, mostly related to fantasy stuff (not like World of Warcraft or anything like that). My fan fictions were many about a down-to-Earth version of the future. It's like what some of the science fiction stories from the 80's would have been if they had seen far ahead to 2010 and realized that we wouldn't have flying cars by then, that plus the Tolkien Universe.
Anything Tolkien. For those who don't know what that is, Google it. Start with Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, and look at some other literature from Tolkien. Expensive, well worth it if you want a big collection. The guy made his own languages! I got my sister into the series, and from that, she got "Elrond" into it. My sister by the way is a member here too, Queen_Amy. Odd name as I figured she'd just pick A'mael, like she uses on other sites.
History. Mostly the Greek and Roman stuff, but I know a lot about American history as well. I majored in this, along with literature. Then I studied into environmental science. On top of all that, Elementary Education. I completed most all that, and still am a student mainly because I have gotten into the university instruction scene a little more, and have been getting into completing more with the education (teaching) curriculum. So an Assistant Professor position is likely to be mine in a year or two. I don't know, I worked to get into elem-ed and just felt like jumping a step further. By the end of this semester, I'll have 2 ed-administration courses completed. Additionally, around 300 credits for everything done in uni so far. I'll end up remaining a professional student for a while, I think.
Fashion, clothing. I make some money doing this stuff, a few friends on campus got me hooked up a little more with this. I feel fine with how it's going right now. Plus, the fact that "Elrond" offered to pay for books and all for my uni courses, quite kingly of him. So all I need to pay is basically bills, like my cell phone and um, that's about it. I help out where I can for now.
Philosophy. I've seen and experienced many sides of the political spectrum as well as the religious spectrum. In "religion" terms, I was originally Jewish. I'm pretty much an agnostic now. In my case, I don't assume there is anything beyond what can really be proven so far out there, and that's the limit. I don't make any postulations as to whether there is a heaven or hell, God or the other guy. It leaves space open for any possibilities, and I think that's more a good thing. Less confusing. I believe that folks such as Moses, Jesus, etc. were just great, but as far as morality being anything other than some biological trigger dealing with survival and response to environment and all that, I honestly say that I would like to really believe in something I have no evidence for, but I can't. Plus I'd like to state that everyone's free to their own opinions and beliefs. I have zero trouble with that. I only have trouble with people being mean just to be mean, or just dangerous. I do not tolerate racism or skin-deep intolerance very well. The only thing I can't really tolerate is when one person, innocent as the next, is stripped of rights that the other person has. To me, censorship in strong quantities without much good reason for it is just beyond me. As far as to the rules of various internet sites, I do however agree with site owners having the right to declare what is right or wrong, because they aren't above the law either. I am a moderate politically, but I can see where I'd be considered liberal by most. When it comes to some political issues, my comment is that I have no comment. We all have a right to have a religion or be devoid of it, as well as the right to speak or not to speak.
Comedy, music, composition. I was into George Carlin by about 2 years before he died. I've heard all or at least most of his comedy, and read his books through and through. I like some old-time comedy too, such as All in the Family, Andy Griffith, Sanford and Son, and one that many may not know of, Perfect Strangers. Mainly I loved the upbeat tune from Perfect Strangers. The 70s and 80s rocked. For comedy as well as in music. Part of all that would be in the 60s too. I honestly am not into any music from the 50s, but I do like 20s, 30s, and 40s music, as well as classical compositions by Hector Berlioz, Friedrick Schiller (Ode to Joy), and Beethoven. More modern semi-classical compositions I like are those from Hans Zimmer, John Williams, and James Horner. I'd have to add that guy who composed the Star Trek 2009 movie soundtrack to that list as well. I believe his name is Michael Giovanni.
Other games I'm into.... Battle for Middle Earth. Again, this is one Elrond got me into. I got to play all the PS2 games for Lord of the Rings as well. I did play World of Warcraft for a time, but couldn't understand the concept of paying so much every month for something that to me just became repetitive level-grinding. That stuff is cool in a free game, but even in a game that offers so much replay value, I just couldn't consider keeping a membership for much longer than 5 months.
Lastly, I'm into a bit of web design. I got into this by helping Elrond with his site. Early in 2008 I was the grand master of that site due to some issues and short story shorter, I learned a lot in that time. I never thought I'd find myself dealing with that type of stuff, but it helped give me the right mindset for, on occasion, modifying the Battle for Middle Earth 2 game. I'm glad to have been exposed to that type of thing, scripting and coding and such.
Well, very lastly, I'm highly-verbose, energetic, and definitely talk a bit too much. Really. I talk not a mile a minute, but a mile a second! Sometimes I talk too fast for some people to understand. Plus, I will have that small period of time where my mind goes blank (brain fart) and I freeze for a few seconds. My brain has to catch up to what I'm saying, especially when I happen not to know what I'm talking about!!!
That's about all.
