• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

I wanted to integrate the Flourish class in a personal mod. However my SOD/Hardpoint viewer is stubborn and doesn't let me see the relationship between the hardpoints and the actual model (it only displays the hps). I often like having something to reference myself so I know what the torpedo will look like it is shooting out of, or exactly which phaser array I am firing from.

There have been other ships where I had problems viewing their mesh when looking at the hps. I will list them when needed.

Is there anyone willing to provide an HP map/guide?

I think that given the fact that there are literally thousands of ships out there, you'll be lucky if someone picks this up. The way they would probably do it is attach a different coloured phaser to each hp and figure it out that way, so unfortunately that's probably the best thing for you to do too.

I have an application called "CV". I cannot remember where I got it from nor where it may be on the Web. It shows models and hardpoints very well. I can send you a copy if you want.

That would actually be great to get out to the general public (CV) - I know a few modders who have been looking for that program for quite some time

I"m not sure, but there seems to be a problem with the flourish model. i can open it in assimsoft, but when I try to add a hardpoint, it tells me it is not a SOD.

I hate to have to ask this, but what programs will allow me to look at the SOD files and also locate the hardpoints of a model. Even though yours is stubborn, what is the name of it and could you by any chance tell me where you were able to download it or purchase it? Is the Storm3D Viewer Tool considered to be one?

A SOD/hardpoint viewer would come in very handy now that I am trying to model and it will also possibly allow me to be able to better arm certain starships and stations that I have.

The post above you will answer your question, quoted for ease:

Thank you for quoting that for me Majestic. Is Assimsoft the same company that made MS3D or is it the other program I downloaded, utmv1?

Do you by any chance know how to use utmv1? It has me stumped more than I thought I was with MS3D.

utmv is made by the company as assimsoft I believe. MS3D is made by chUmbaLum sOft.

I also don't use utmv at all, MS3D is my tool of choice, however I am planning on migrating to Lightwave in the near future.

It is difficult to use, and is really only useful for looking at hardpoint hierarchy, and re-parenting nodes, or adding hardpoints the hear way, but if you need help, give me a pm. I pretty much have it figured out for a2 SOD's.

I found out that it is really difficult. I'll see about sending you a PM, I just want to learn how to do the hardwork with hardpointing as well. I might ask you for help in a few days though.

I have CV tools and it's a decent tool if you want to use it for viewing HPs. There are only a few problems with it:
- It needs a lot of memory to operate - at least comparing to other modeling tools, so be prepare that you may won't be able to run many more programs at the same time.
- It just can't open certain models for some unknown reason...
- Sometimes it doesn't open the file properly.

I have the program, I could post it here or among the files, but I don't want to until Maj says it's OK, because I don't have any readme or credits files for it, only the program file.
