I found this the other day, some interesting news. Most importantly there is a Halo Tv series being produced, I say finally after all those failed movie attempts we know get to see Halo on TV other than being a game.

http://news.xbox.com/2014/05/games-halo-journey-announcement

Any time you transition to a new platform, there is the opportunity to look at things with a new perspective. For us at 343 Industries, the launch of the Xbox One was an opportunity to think about what stories we wanted to tell, how to tell them, and how best to push the “Halo” franchise to showcase the platform. And, most importantly, combining our passion for “Halo” with the vocal and informative input from our fans.

“Halo” isn’t simply a perennial game franchise, it’s a part of the Xbox platform itself. In terms of innovation and ideation, it’s sometimes important to people who might not even play “Halo.” And of course it’s a passion and an essential experience for two generations of gamers. So we asked ourselves, how do we begin and where do we go with “Halo” on Xbox One?

In the past, “Halo” games have pushed the Xbox forward, showcasing the console and its ecosystem in entertaining and innovative ways. Making a “Halo” game that runs at 60 frames per second, on dedicated servers, with the scope, features and scale we’ve been dreaming of for more than a decade, is non-trivial. It’s a task that we, at 343 Industries, are taking very seriously to ensure we deliver the “Halo” game that fans deserve, and a game that is built from the ground up for Xbox One.

I’m happy to reveal that “Halo 5: Guardians,” the next installment in the legendary saga of the Master Chief, will launch on Xbox One in fall of 2015. In the tradition of every “Halo” game since its debut in 2001, it is a massive and exciting project.

“Halo 5: Guardians” is a bigger effort than “Halo 4.” That applies to the content and scope of the game, as well as the technology in what’s now a brand new and more powerful engine. Certainly there are some core elements carried over from prior games, but we’ve invested a huge effort in retooling our tech to take full advantage of the Xbox One’s hardware and ecosystem to create worlds and experiences worthy of next-gen.

It’s a game that will hopefully demonstrate the talent, learnings and abilities of the 343 Industries team. A game that will incorporate the things we learned from “Halo 4” about technology, aesthetics, performance and scale – and perhaps more importantly, understanding and embracing a community of gamers who love what lies at the heart of this game, and the limitless potential of the “Halo” universe.

And 2015 won’t simply be the year of “Halo 5: Guardians,” it will also be a year that offers us a unique opportunity. The opportunity to invite old friends and new audiences into that universe through the “Halo” television series, launched as a unique collaboration with Steven Spielberg and some of the finest creative minds in the business. A series that will stand alone, as well as complement and enrich the game experience. We’ll have more to share on the “Halo” television series as we near its projected fall 2015 release.

Your Journey Begins in 2014Many fans noted that I was very deliberate with my phrasing on stage at E3 last year. I spoke about a “journey,” rather than a destination – and that journey definitely begins in 2014 with agiant leap, rather than one small step. We’ll give you much more information about our plans for this year at the Xbox E3 2014 Media Briefing on June 9, and we’re confident that “Halo” fans will be pretty excited about the special plans we have in store.

So until E3, I’d like to express my gratitude to our massive and varied Halo community, whose energy, enthusiasm, criticism and kindness are the driving force behind what we do and what we hope to achieve in “Halo 5: Guardians.”

That could be good. They've already got a ton of props from the movie attempt and the Forward Unto Dawn miniseries was decent, even if they couldn't actually afford to show many Covenant. I'd like to know a bit about the plot. I'm guessing there will probably be more info about that in a couple months.

Yeah it was only announced a few weeks back about a series, Steven Spielberg is heading the series so I assume it will be pretty good.

I am interested in seeing where this goes. I have never been able to get into Halo due to not having any Xbox systems. If I ever do get one though, Halo would definitely be one of the games I do get.

Halo has evolved a lot over the years. I've been in it since basically the launch of Halo 1 and the Xbox.

It's a very well fleshed out universe and really draws you in, but you really need the games and Xbox. Thankfully Halo 1 and 2 can be played on the Xbox 360, which are coming down in price with the launch of the Xbox One. Halo 1 was also re-released as Anniversary for the 360 a few years back.

I must admit I wasn't much of a fan of Halo 4, I am hoping Halo 5 will bring it back into it's roots as well as expanding the franchise.

The series does sound good, I really wish they'd also do a movie based on the original trilogy of games as I could see that drawing in a lot of new gamers into the series.

I know what you mean by the price. I bought a PS2 when the 3 came out. I just don't play it anymore. I would like a new console to play around with but, that would end up taking what little play time I have away from STO, Neverwinter, and SW:TOR. :lol2:

That might be a good thing. Sometimes a break from those MMO's can do you a world of good. I'm enjoying my break from MMOs.

I do recommend if you have the opportunity and finances to get a 360 and the Halo games (H1-3, ODST, Reach and Wars). If you like first person shooters or sci-fi themed games you won't be disappointed. I converted Kat and the kids, now it's your turn. :p :lol2:

LOL. First thing is first. I need to get my finances in order. Things got away from us over the last year. I will most definitely be keeping my eyes open for a good deal. I also would like to replace my laptop with a new, well equipped desktop. That will not be an inexpensive task.

As for the MMOs and games. I have been playing The Old Republic and enjoying it. They now give you 20 Cartel Coins each time you complete all of the story missions on a planet for the first time for each class. As for first person shooters, they are not my preferred game play but, I don't mind them. If it has a rich of a story as you say, then I am certain I will enjoy it.

Reach is great as a stand alone. You don't need to know the plot of the other games to appreciate it and while the plot sets up Halo 1, the story is mostly self contained and there isn't a cliff hanger. Halo 1 leads into 2 and so forth, ODST jumps off from 2's plot, and Wars is a console RTS rather than an FPS. If you want to test the waters without spending several hundred dollars on a new console, there is a pretty good PC port of Halo 1 and a terrifyingly bad one of Halo 2.

Reach still stands as my favourite of the Halo series, though I do really enjoy ODST and Halo 2. Halo 2 has the best comedy and dialogue out of all the games imo.

Some new news, Halo 2 Anniversary will be launch this November as part of the Master Chief Collection which will include Halo CE Anniversary, Halo 3 and Halo 4 all available on 1 disk for the Xbox One.

Plus you'll be given beta access for 3 weeks to Halo 5 multiplayer and to the live TV action series Halo Nightfall.

Check out the link, a lot of info there and has gotten me excited as Halo 2 was my favourite from the original trilogy.

Dear Kosh, I need an Xbox One for this. Honestly, Halo and Fable 2 are the only reasons I wanted a 360 instead of a PS3 and this, combined with my 360 being dead and Ones being sold without the Kinect now, seems like a good incentive.

That's...boss....

It'll be a while before I'm in a position to be able to get an X-Box One. Took me till 2012 to get the 360 haha. We'll see a few years down the road, once I can find a decent teaching job.

This new collection looks fantastic though! I'm stoked!

Yeah I was excited to see this come out. I am getting an Xbox One for Christmas mainly for Destiny and Halo 5, this will certainly be added to that list. We get all year to pay off the console at interest free so that makes it a lot more affordable for us. They are approx $500 here in AU, so about $20 a week and it will be totally paid for.

To be honest I got both the original Xbox and 360 at launch, this time around I decided to wait till some games I wanted to come out on the console as when I got the 360 I barely used it in those first 12 months until Halo 3 hit the console. Seems Microsoft are not making that mistake this time around with Halo 5 coming out next year, Destiny at the end of this year and how the Master Chief Collection. Also at launch of their Nightfall series the only way to watch it will be via the Master Chief Collection.

They did fumble the Xbox One launch really bad, though. It will take this kind of thing to get many people to buy it at all.

I agree Cabal. Things they tried to put in place were just stupid from a business point of view especially in this economic climate. Thankfully they decided to drop those features, otherwise I doubt the console would have sold enough to even break even. While a fan of Xbox and the Halo series myself if they had kept those features I would not have even considered buying it and would have just suck with the 360 and PC.
