• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

    Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

    We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Greetings All

I'm Karanua, a basic 3d modelling hobbyist and long time science fiction enthusiast. You can see examples of what I do at my page on deviant art;

karanua on deviantART

I've a wide interest in scifi modelling although currently I'm tied up building futuristic cityscapes for my local RPG clubs referees to use in the planning of their game campaigns. For those of you that prefer "hard" science fiction to "space opera" the series of books that I'm currently reading I'd recommend to anyone. Its the Lost Fleet series by Jack Campbell. In those there are fleet actions described using ships individula delta vees as assets and the reliance on time lagged sensor data (works at lighspeed) that the mission commander needs to be able to compensate for, its a great series on many levels not just the space combat.

I've quite a large library of scifi having been collecting over thirty years, my grandfather started me off as a young boy so if anyone wants references on anything I may be able to help.

Welcome to the site! The Lost Fleet sounds interesting; I'll have to check it out some time.

Werlcome to MSFC! Nice to meet you! The Lost Fleet series sounds interesting. You mentioned you are a 3D artist and do cityscapes. Have ever looked at some of RJB's work?

Welcome to MSFC!

I have looked through your devianart profile and you do have some serious 3d skills. :thumbsup:
You will find others here that are engaged in the same field, though most people here do 3dmodelling for games.
The already mentioned RJB is probably the best high-poly modeler we have on the board.
