Well, here I am. After many, many repeated naggings by my good friend Katala, I finally signed up and well, now I'm presenting myself to this apparently great community.
First and foremost I'm not really a big sci-fi fan. Well, that's not true. I do like the genre, but I'm not really into any specific TV shows. Well, I did originally watch the first season of Farscape when it was fresh on TV, I guess that can count, right?
What I do have is a particular set of skills that I have acquired over a long career of.. gaming. Gaming is my past time, and I'm pretty good at what I do. I have an extensive library of knowledge, which is another thing Kat was all up in my face about, being all like, 'come to the forums and talk about gaaammmeeessss' So you know, maybe that will happen, maybe it won't.
Just a quick run down of my Internetting history; I guess my first and most 'major' step into the internet was at a community called Konfuze. We were a community based around the support of an open source, ORPG making engine, coded entirely in Visual Basic. The limitations of Visual Basic meant it couldn't be an MMORPG, but any one engine that had smooth code would be able to support about 50 players at a time. I was well renown in the community as the #1 go to guy for graphics. Being coded in VB, it used simple sprite based graphics. Could also throw up some pretty mean maps as well. Don't go looking for my legacy, that community died a long time ago.
After that I got a new PC (reason I was interested in old sprite based stuff was because my PC was ancient) and started playing WoW. Too cheap to actually play the official game, I stumbled across a private server called Escaria, claiming to the be biggest and best Australian private server, so I gave it a shot. Its where I met Katala, became good friends with her, got into her good graces and my plan of becoming an Admin to cause all sorts of mayhem and havoc finally came into fruition.. But seriously, it was great fun, made good friends, and I seriously was an Admin, and one of the most loved by the community as well (I'm that good). Best thing I got out of it was a friend in Kat really! (I KNOW I'M SUCKING UP)
These days I work a job, play WoW, play other games, and continue my time as being an all round nice guy. I've been looking for a forum for god knows how long to hang around in, and ever since Kat told me about this place, I have lurked a bit, reckon I could be a active and productive member of the community.
In short, I'm a guy, I'm almost into my mid twenties, yes, I do type a lot, and now I'm in your forum, deal with it.
PS: I also love candlelit dinners and long walks on the beach.
