ok guys so can someone find me a computer that will run this game? i go on to Dells website and they list almost no actual stats of their processors or video cards. one of them says athelon 64 3200+ but i know thats not a 32. ghz processor. the vid card they have listed is a geforce 6150, but it does not say how many megs that card is, and i went searchign and i couldnt find it on three other sites either. they seem to be very vauge as to what the specs of that card are, so im guessing its a 128 card. Im trying to convince my dad to get a new computer instead of the x-box 360. so if i can make a or find a computer that will run Legacy for near the same price as the 360 then im all set and i can get the computer.

Right now the cheapest computer on Dell.com is $340, I think your best bet is to buy an XBOX 360.

Dell PC's are only good if you do not plan to keep the same PC and not upgrade them. If you try to upgrade a Dell it becomes expensive as you have to use their parts and they make their PC's uncompatable with standard PC parts.

I agree with Trekie, your best bet is to buy a XBOX 360 to play the stock game.

That was true up until a few years ago. My Dell is almost 2 and a half years old now, but I have replaced almost everything with non-Dell parts, my Video Card, the RAM, HDD, DVD Burner, etc... the only things I haven't replaced are the Motherboard, and the Processor.

But back on topic, you are better off buying a 360 to play the game, since I am fairly certain my PC will play the game (only short .27Ghz on processor speed) I am going to buy the PC version. I don't plan on owning a 360 until Halo 3 releases.

Ok, first thing you need to understand about CPUs is what it means. A AMD Athlon called a 3200+, means that it's application speed is 3,200 MegaHertz (MHz). Translated to GHz, it would be a 3.2+ GHz. And better yet, if you look at the other part of the name "64", means that this is actually a 64bit processor. If you have the 64bit version of XP Pro, then your AMD Athlon 64 3200+ will actually run 32bit code programs (as in almost ALL programs to date, including Legacy) at 6,400 MHz (6.4GHz). However, on the standard XP HOME ED, You will not get that increase in speed.

If you want to buy a dell, that's fine. Call them and find out from a real person what your getting. I would personally suggest go to a local person that builds PCs. You can get a better system (sometimes) that way. Shop around first!

thanks dude, yeah i did that got some quotes from dell in the high 500$ range for a system that exceeds the requirements that legacy needs by a decent amount. I also talked to two of my friends who build and fix computers on a daily basis and they said that i really wouldnt be able to build anything better for any less then what dell is offering, and the price includes a warrenty so it makes it more worth it.

Your CPU "Core speed" is 1.8GHz, however, the Application speed is what games go by. So your 3000+ runs at 3GHz.

TM, The official system Reqs are:
Intel Pentium 4 (2.66ghz or higher)
or AMD Athlon XP 2800+ or higher

These actual are a bit high for today's standards. I would suggest try it. If not, a quick upgrade replacing only the CPU will fix that.

The RAM could do the work (I could kill someone if I can't run Legacy, becuase some .20 Ghz!) I think that 1gb of RAM could fix it no?

Your 2600+ should be a 333MHz FSB, which the 2800+ is also. So your motherboard should support it. I really have not seen any reason they require a 2800+. It may be an estimation.

Well, they both are good. I've run both types in various systems, and haven't had any problems with either.
