Fatal Error in Direct 3D, Please Reboot

I seem to be getting this every single time I attempt to run Armada 2 (I don't even get to the activision opening animation bik, just a blank screen and/or error message pop-up). I tried running several copies of the game on two different hard drives and have rebooted countless times.

This only started happening out of the blue one day and since then I haven't been able to run Armada 2, hence no ingame screen shots lately.

Does anyone know what the problem is or better still how I can repair it? I have been thinking of attempting to find an older version of Direct 3D and installing it and hopefully it may solve my problem but wanted to ask for advice before I attempted to do so.

I have done a google search on it (there is a lot of junk in search engines these days) and have come up empty.

Any help in getting this sorted would be great and appreicated.

Well I just attempted a install of Directx 3d and I am still getting the error.

Try re-installing your video card drivers? That's really the only thing I can think of, and to be honest I really hope it's that simple...

I can't believe I didn't think to do that, much thanks Trekie as it worked. I went out and bought some more memory (I now have two gig) and then my power supply blew so had to go out and buy a replacement one of those.

So been quite a morning but all in all I am back up running with more power.

Good to hear. Troubleshooting Hardware isn't my strongest suit, I'm a bit better when it comes to software and operating system issues, but I'm really glad it worked.
