• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. [Help] Exporting HP orientation

I already noticed before that if you give an orientation to hardpoints (important for weapons with limited firearc) and you export the model from MS3D the orientation of the HPs (other than facing directly forward) gets messed up, no matter what you do. If I just turn them, they are exported as facing forward. If I add an orientation HP, they exported in seemingly random directions.
Is there a way to fix this? Maybe exporting from a different 3D editor?

Hello:
Oh, you really got me there, I may not be able to be of any help until I start modding again (and not just working on new 3d ships). But I do know that, by rotating hardpoints, you cannot even dream of editing or moving anything at all once you try to export (and erasing all null joints), otherwise all hardpoints will return to their original orientation.

I think the only other program that can export into SOD format is 3ds Max.

MS3D exports everything just fine, except the HP orientation. If there is no supporting node, the orientation will be reset to facing forward. If there is a supporting node, it will face into random directions.

The strange thing is that I saw some models with properly oriented HPs so it is possible to do it somehow, I just don't know the method...

Ohh, that is very strange :( . The only other way I know is when people use 3ds max, a program I don't have
