• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Wasn't quite sure where to put this but... I was visiting the Rogue Forums (I still do that from time to time) and it seems they were shut down for a few days because one of the members didn't post a link to the original version of an article they were re-posting (Normally everyone there is very very good about doing that, and they just got the bad end of the stick). Now with that said, I realise there is a no advertising policy, but if I'm not mistaken we should always post a link to an article/piece of news/etc... if it came from another place?

I don't mean to single you out Jeddy but it was the Stargate Universe thread that kinda reminded me about this... Just remember to post the original article link at the end of a news or whatnot post?

As long as it's said where the news article comes from, There should be no issues. Also, We are on a private site, owned soley by Majestic. Since admission (posting) is strictly a registed membership basis, and we have a stated policy not to allow Links without permission... So, there will be no issues coming up over anything like that here.

Hmm, makes sense, I guess, I just dont want anyone here getting into trouble because they didn't do something they should have.

That rule was put in not to be difficult. I don't see why I and our donators should pay to advertise other sites when many in return would not return the same, as many sites don't allow linking to other sites. I see it as a scratch my back and I will scratch yours type of relationship. As many of you know runing a site as well as vBulletin isn't exactly cheap either and when money is concerned it's a little different. I wasn't too worried back in the early days when I ran free sites like on forumup but nowadays it's different.

If sites do provide linking then they can contact me about being an affiliate or at the very least a link in the links section. As long as those sites check out to a certain standard (no pornographic or such material on the site) then we will be happy to add them.

Many news sites (like Technology news - CNET News.com etc) we don't have a problem with (nor do we with online petitions), Theta_Sigma has posted links in many Doctor Who threads and never have I had a problem with it but fan sites are different as we are in that category ourself.

All in all I don't think it's much of an issue, just naming the site should cover one from any possible accusations of information theft or what not.

It was a good issue to bring up Lord_Trekie and I may make a news announcement about it at a later date so members are aware that they should name a site they get news off to cover themselves.
