• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

As you just read, a bad-weather front affected (and is still affecting in some degree) big part of Chile's northern regions causing surplus of water that caused rivers to flood, avalanches of mud and lots of damage to life and infrastructures. Hundreds are homeless and,at this time, there are aprox 7 deaths and 19 missing people.

My city has been unaffected by this bad-weather front, but it did cause damage like a total blackout of my city and Iquique and then total loss of all forms of communications until not long ago. Phone services have return, but internet might still fail at times.

I hope the front will pass very soon and no more damage will happen to my fellow countrymen.

Hello:
Thank you everybody for the well wishes :) .

Well, internet was a bot dodgy but it seems to be fine now. Also it looks like the cold-front that caused all the problems is starting to leave.

And it did not affect me directly, since I live in the extreme north of Chile. So I am glad that we were safe from those floods. But the damage did cause a total blackout of 2 major cities here and all towns in between.

Hello:
And thank you all very much :) .

The AccuWeather site mentioned that this phenomena would happen once every 100 years.

We had one of those where we used to live in 2007. It was like a 30 year storm. Had massive flooding, lost all power for 3 days etc.

Hello:
Good thing my city recovered power the same night this while catastrophe happened, that is because out whole zone's main power hub is located in the II Region of Antofagasta and that was part of the affected zones.

Chile is receiving some international help, the number of death did raise :( . But they seem to have started works of cleaning... but it will be a long process.

I have been busy so I have not followed the news closely, but countries so far are Uruguay, Argentina (I think) and Bolivia brought some water. sorry Icannot provide more info  .

However, I've got to know that the number of missing and dead people have raised some more. Let's hope the counts will stop now.
