Battlestar Galactica: Beyond The Red Line is a freeware space combat simulator of the new BSG series.

The team just released their long awaited Demo. I am currently downloading it and I will give you a reflection about once I managed to control a Viper or Raptor. :)

Here's the URL to their site, where you can also see some nice screenshots:

I downloaded it, but I can't run it. My VC doesn't agree with OpenGL.

It's pretty neat, but the controls are a bit sensitive, which I assumed was completely what they intended :)

What ships can you fly in the demo?

Um... At the moment all I've been in is the Mk VII viper, but I believe there is the option to fly a mk II...

Yep, MK VII and Mk II. In Multiplayer one can fly a Cylon raider, I think. Haven't gotten around to confirm and test that.

It's a marvellous game, really nice. I am stupid idiot when it comes to WWII style fighting, but I even managed to have 2 confirmed kills and 6 assisted kills.

theres a map maker thingy included too i used it to make a map where u go 1 on 1 with the scar radier amongsts some astroids,
I also found that you can go inside the at least one of the astroids too.
U can use the mission builder to play as any of the included ships,(the 2 vipers and the raidrs) and theres a tutorial of how to use it on the mods forums

I gave it a go. Problem is you don't have enough fingers to use all the controls. Plus I couldn't get the vertical thrusters to work during the training.

Thats one of the reason I never really played the Babylon 5 Starfury game, just too many buttons.

I couldn't either, I got the horizontal ones to work, I think I even got one of the vertical ones to go too, but no the other one... And I agree there are too many controls for the game, I uninstalled it day after I installed it.

Problem is I can't pass the training due to not being able to use vertical thrusters. Is there some way to just be able to play the campaign without having to play the training missions?

Oh.... I must have been able to then, because I got to the first mission... is there a way you can change the key bindings?

There isn't for that one. I looked into it. I press the buttons they say to and it just doesn't work.

Oh well I have enough to do so I am not too concerned. I will come back to it someday. ;)
