• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

Hey MSFCians!

Yeah, that's right, we've got a new poll! I'm sorry for the late-ness, I've had quite a lot to do and some nasty stuff to deal with. But let's not talk about unpleasant things here.

This time, we're asking for your opinion on the ST movies. From what I've heard over the years, First Contact and TWOK seem to be the most highly rated Trek movies. Disagree? No probz, vote for your favourite and let people know!

(I can't do much wrong here, but nvm: If I forgot one movie, plz 2 be tllinz me.)

That's it for now, see you in two weeks.

The MSFC Polling Crew:
Terra_Inc & Amateur

And don't forget: We's not trollin', we's pollin'! :)

Definetely Insurection, it had Awesome Drone Battles, Good story progression(always a plus), and a new revenge motivated Faction, that had ships worth reconing with......(It also introduced the ship i love to blow up the most....... The Venture class).......... and a shoulder fired tetrion pulse lancher:excited:

But the wrath of Khan was good too....hmmmm, hard choice....:lol2:

genetic ship stealing, spock killing, Super Solders?

Or Geneticly manipulated, paradise stealing, mass murdurers?
(i think there's a pattern here)

I stick with Insurection:cool:

Apart from a few issues that I was able to overlook the re-boot movie Star Trek XI was my favourite and really brought Trek back to it's roots and was a fresh new take on an old theme.

First Contact. Best music in ST films ever  And BORG!!!!! "Assimilate THIS!"

Can I make a negative vote? St 2009 is not an ST movie for me :p

That one is extremely difficult for me. I voted for First Contact, just because teh b0rgz are awesome. Insurrection was just as good, but different... it was quiet and philosophical, where FC had action and drama.

I was sorely tempted to vote for ST:V just to make people ask "WHO WOULD DO SUCH A THING!?".

My vote's for ST:II. First Contact probably did it better in terms of action and story, but Wrath of Khan did it first and set the bar.

LOL yeah - some great dialogue in Undiscovered Country; the whole dinner aboard the Enterprise was just great!

The movie really showed that Sulu's epic voice was better suited for command and not flying the Enterprise with the bow tipped forward.

More memorable lines:
McCoy: "Bet you wish you stood in bed."

Kirk: "They're animals!"

Sulu: "Lock unto that explosion and fire."

Chang: I have so wanted to meet you captain. One warrior to another?"
Kirk: "Riiiiiighht....."

Chang: "You do prefer it this way as it was meant to be, warrior to warrior..."

Pretty hard choice to make, really, IMHO. First Contact was great and all, but to me it was the first example of the Borg getting just absolutely humiliated by an inferior race :lol2: The same ended up true for Voyager, where the Delta flyer was able to take on like 20 different ships and survived. As I remembered it, battles with Starfleet always went like this...

A cube comes, everyone is running scared s***less as they should be.
Everyone dies a terrible, terrible death, or they get assimilated (the part I always enjoyed so much). Whatever the case, it ends in a lot of demolished SF ships and then the Enterprise comes to save the day. It was awesome in Best of Both Worlds, but it happened again in First Contact. The Borg not ending the fight with a victory was negative enjoyable. I wanted the Borg to pull off a victory for once, and put Picard and any surviving non-assimilated crew in a position where he would have been stuck in the 21st century, and somehow bring together a group of survivors who would fight the Borg with guerrilla tactics or something like that. Most of them would be picked off by the Borg, and I would have watched and laughed as they died on screen! Fun for all! :lol2: Too bad movies don't change each time you watch them. The only thing that usually changes is you notice something that you didn't notice the last time you watched!

First Contact is still one of my favorites, despite the fact that the Borg failed...AGAIN. I mean, just send TWO cubes next time, or more! Mix it up, maybe even put some other fun stuff in there, like I dunno, the Borg diamond or sphere or dodecahedron or whatever other simple shape they can come up with (maybe a HYPERCUBE!!!), yes, a giant 4-dimensional-looking cube set forth to doom humanity! First Contact was still one of the best, though. Lots of action, didn't make me sad or anything. So thumbs up!

But all the movies are pretty good in my opinion. Even TMP and Final Frontier - those were still awesome despite the hate both those movies get. Did you see that massive eye candy scene in TMP? That alone was so epic, even by today's standards! Wrath of Khan was of course fantastic, the soundtrack in and of itself is a reason to watch it over and over again! Generations was actually pretty awesome, despite how much hate it sometimes gets. I remember a chill going down my spine the first time seeing not only the Enterprise get owned, but the planet getting blown away. Still don't get the fact that the Klingon Bird of Prey was able to do enough damage to the Enterprise to eventually destroy it, although it was in all fairness a larger class Bird and not one of those smaller ones, and it had a pretty good crew.

Star Trek 2009...it was a movie that I thought I wouldn't like - at all. I figured I'd be flipping the bird at the screen and then screaming expletives at the top of my lungs. But it astounded me in the fact that I loved it! So, my expectations were pretty low, but the results were so far above those expectations that it made ST11 my favorite! Funny how that works!

They still were able to continue the storyline into the future of the prime timeline, but somehow have it link to the past of another timeline. That was cool! At first I didn't like the design of the ship, but it grew on me and now I just love it! That ship is a real beast now! It's kind of a guilty pleasure for me to like all the new stuff, but I don't know, I just love it!

He he he the bit that always gets me is during the final battle with Chang; where Spock, along with McCoy has finished modding the photon torp to lock onto the cloaked BoP - its just the look on Kirk's face as he puts one foot up on the edge of the bridge railing and says "Fire" while kind pumping his fist... Totally over the top and ham fisted acting, but it just fitted the moment perfectly... For me, Undiscovered Country is the essential, classic Star Trek movie...

The final battle and modding torp scene probably is best. I remember when I first saw that scene... it really proves that well timed torpedo is more epic to the viewer then a bajillion lasers flying around everywhere like in First Contact and the most recent Trek movie. I remember when I heard "Where's that **** torpedo! She's ready Jim, lock and load!" that I knew this was going to be the most epic conclusion to Trek ever. It indeed was.

It really is the perfect final mission for Kirk and the original crew.
