Superman, Batman Sequels Planned
Warner Brothers is already planning sequels to Batman Begins and Superman Returns, with respective helmers Christopher Nolan and Bryan Singer in line to return, though the latter film doesn't open until June 30, Variety reported.
Neither director's deal is closed yet, the trade paper reported. The studio has hired Jonah Nolan, Christopher's brother, to pen the screenplay for the as-yet-untitled Batman sequel. Warner has options on Batman Begins star Christian Bale and Superman Returns star Brandon Routh.
The next installment in the Caped Crusader franchise is further along in the process, since Batman Begins was released last summer.
Legendary Pictures, which put up half the financing for both Batman Begins and Superman Returns, is expected to board the sequels and split the budgets 50-50 with Warner. In return, Legendary would split all profits.
The Batman sequel is eyed for 2008 and the Superman follow-up for 2009.

Holy Sequel Discussion, Batman!
Bats and Supes follow-ups planned
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Warners is clearly trying to get a head start on the rumour mongers. The company has announced that it is planning sequels to Superman Returns and Batman Begins.
Given that Superman isn’t even out in cinemas yet, plans for the Bat-sequel are already much further along. The follow-up film might not have a title – or a commitment from Christopher Nolan yet – but it has a screenwriter. Chris’s brother Jonathan (also known as Jonah) will write the screenplay based on a treatment by his elder sibling and Batman Begins co-writer David Goyer. All of which at least strongly suggests that Nolan will return, and that that could activate Christian Bale’s sequel option to slip back into the Bat suit.
Bryan Singer, meanwhile, is toiling to finish his Man Of Steel adventure in time for its summer release. The studio has yet to negotiate for him to return to direct the sequel, but Variety reports it’s clearly interested in the idea. It also has an option on the Superman Returns cast and is said to be eyeing a slot for Singer to helm the next film as soon as he’s finished working on Logan’s Run.
Looks like it might all happen and the first Superman movie isn't even out yet! Money, money, money!
Interesting.
