• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

    Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

    We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Hi!

Are there ANY real good Star Trek mods for A2 out there? The stock game pretty much sucks, when you played B5A2 most of the time. But I felt like doing some Trek action (mainly bringing honour to the Klingon Empire).

A good TMP era mod, for example, any available?

BIVR is alright, apart from that, no not really. No good TMP era mods either, Federations by Syf, Zered, Hellkite and Myself will be pretty cool but there are so many Star Trek mods out there and pretty much all of them are rubbish, well at least I don't like them.

I have the installation package of BIVR on my laptop somewhere. Haven't tried it yet.

The Romulan War mod was quite interesting to play for the first five times, but then it became also quite boring. Though I think that it might be a good mod in multiplayer matches.

But all the other mods are just large scale odf replacements and so on.

(Not Trek, I know, but Naval Armada sucked.)

There were a few TMP era mods planned (which led to me cancelling mine, lol), but none were ever finished, as i remember. Terradyhne's E&F2 mod looked promising, but he's gone quiet again.

As for good mods in general, I'm sticking to saying "Fleet Ops". Or just carry on playing B5A2, lol, that's great too.

Sadly, I have not completed my mod. It's a TMP mod (with a twist). It was originally set to be released in Dec. '05. However, I changed the quality of the mod and since been hammering it out when possible. However, do to heavy work loads in real life my time is limited these days. It seems like every time I try to sit down to work on it, someone has to mess up my plans. So, I am pushing for a demo release as soon as possible, then I'll focus on the full release. No time frame yet on a full mod release.

Sta2 mods

I've been playing this game for a few years, and only just started modding more than the ODF files. I changed some of the weapon sounds, burst rates, and sprite lengths to make the weapons more artillery like (ie, like BSG). Looking forward to getting a BSG to plug into the game. Just got the Cylon basestar the other day, and replaced the Cardassian star base with it. Also added the Borg transwarp to all ships so they can jump (like in BSG). I don't suppose there's a way to make the AI use the transwarp is there?

When Parallels or the A2:BSG mods come out you'll be a happy guy, I guess.

As for the AI issue. Unfortunately the AI ever really uses jump/FTL engines correctly.
