My guess is that he has something to do with the Time War. Most likely with the destruction of Gallifrey and the Daleks.

Actually I doubt it is about the time war. I suspect it is something going back to the very beginning. The reason he left home in the first place.

Well, now that the 50th Anniversary Special and the Christmas Special are done, what was everyone's reaction to them? Personally, I thought that they were fantastic, if you'll pardon the parlance from the Ninth Doctor.

Favorite moments?

I must admit I never was a huge fan of Matt Smith, I great to tolerate him and at times even like him. But I am in the group that preferred the RTD era that had Eccleson and Tennant. Still I did enjoy the River Song arc from Matt Smith's time as the Doctor and there were a few other moments. Though to be honest I think Steven Moffit is what made me turn off Doctor Who until the announcement of the 50th special. Anyway onto the topic of this thread.

That all said, I must admit is one one of the better episodes from the Matt Smith era, I enjoyed the fact that the we finally discovered that the Tennant regeneration in his last season was in fact considered a full regeneration and that the Time Lords like they did for the Master in the older series gave the Doctor more regenerations. That was always an issue that they needed to look at facing.

Overall it was a good episode and I am looking forward to the new Doctor, whom I have a good feel about something I haven't had since Tennant first took on the role in late 2005.

For me, it was kind of the opposite. With Matt Smith leastways. He was my "first Doctor," so I've got a soft spot for him and his portrayal. I'll miss some of his manic energy, but I'm very excited for Capaldi, I'm a fan of his work.

With the 50th, I loved John Hurt's portrayal of the "War Doctor," especially his exasperation for the antics of Ten and Eleven. The whole "posh gravelly thing" - as Tennant put it - was quite fun as well, brought some nice old dignity to the screen.

Well I grew up with some of the older Doctors, Peter Davidson, Sylvester McCoy I even saw a little Tom and Colin Baker.

I have fully followed the series since it's restart by Russel T Davis in 2005. So the RTD era has been my Doctor Who.

My biggest issue with the Moffit era was he changed so much and so quickly, new doctor, new companion (I know those two were unavoidable) new tardis, new daleks new sonic screwdriver, wiped out much of the David Tennant series with that crack in the wall thing in his first season with Matt Smith. To be honest it felt more like a reboot than an actual continuation which the series didn't need. In fact after David and Russell left the BBC was actually going to cancel the series and the series did loose a lot of viewers when David and Russell left.

That all said the 50th was great, great to see John Hurt and find out about a missing link in the Doctors history. We often heard David Tennant talking about the fall of Arcadia but never knew what that was, just that it as part of the Time War. Seeing David back in the role was great also the part with the Queen and marrying her was well done as in his last movie he said to the Ood that he got married and became a king.

It and the Christmas special were the two greatest stories in the entire Moffit era. In my opinion of course. There were often highlights, like the River Song arcs, the Craig episodes and so it's not an terrible run, and Matt Smith did do good with the writing he was given to act. I just feel Moffit is wrong for the role and that he made too many sweeping changes too quickly, rather than doing them gradually over the course of a few seasons.

Ah I to was not a great fan of Smith mainly because it took him more time to actually fill in the shoes as it where then most of his predecessors. That said once he had which I think came at the end of the 1 season of his he did a good job. As far as the changes are concerned I think Tennant actually spent a good deal of time in his last episode warning the fans it was coming. Add to that the fact that it was far from my first Regeneration and I didn't mind so much. There have been many times in the history of the show that a Regeneration heralded massive change. The Pertwee era and Colin Bakers time being prime examples so for me having lived with all of them as a whole this was something I expected. the last 2 episodes of Smiths time are by far his best for sure and it was good to see him go out on a high note.
