It looks like Neither will ever happen

Jerry O'Connell stated back in 2001 that there was going to be a moviet it all fell through and sliders will NOT return. I have hoped ever since that it may come back but it seems that it will not. I do not think another series would be a good idea as in my mind series 1 & 2 were the original sliders and 3,4 and 5 were utter rubbish. If anyone does decide to make a movie in the future they need to go back to basics, get rid of the "new" cast and get back Quinn, The Professor, Wade and Remmy. I hope more people give their support to this

I agree, I liked it up until just before they got rid of the Professor, it was reasonably okay up until the end of season three then the next two seasons where very poor, especially season 5.

I do think the original four need to come back, they had the chemistry and really made the series.

Some of season 3 seemed ok but there was a lot of rubbish as well such as the zombie planet (probably the worst episode). They seemed to take on hollywood movies instead of finding different worlds where they could see what the difference between the worlds was

Indeed there was a lot of junk in episode 3, but was still watchable until season 5 came along, season 4 was on par with some of the more of the more ordinary episodes on season 3.

Okay, first off it would be amazing if they did a new Sliders TV show, but like people have said, keep Quinn, Remmy, the professor, and Wade. In the original, the first two seasons were the best and some of season three was good, but then it got too ugh. I liked how they went to worlds to see what the difference was. It was cool when they showed the worlds being different from one event in time, such as the Russians taking over America or when they got rid of the Constitution. When I first watched it, I thought when the professor died, they were going to bring him back and say he was the "bad" professor, but that was not the cast. I would like to see something like that. The whole brother thing was all right. Season five was the worse for me because none of the originals were there, EXCEPT for Remmy, and with him being the only original left it defeated the whole purpose.

I too thought they were going to use the bad professor line, having taken the wrong one from Blue Golden Gate Bridge world.
Today I think if they were going to start it back up, it would be a reboot like BSG and now Star Trek is doing and would have all new cast members due to the original actors being a little on the old side.

I didn't mind season 5 too much, it started to bring Sliders back to it's roots rather than what happened in late season 3 and all of season 4. However it was cancelled before it could've gotten good as I could've seen them taking the bad professor route and bring the professor back even if only for a while. The possibilities are endless with a show like Sliders. It's one of the things that really attracted me to the series.

I totally agree with you Majestic. The only thing was, they fired John Rhys-Davies (and didn't he die). Also Sabrina Lloyd didn't like Kari Wuhrer and told the producers it's either me or her and obvious it was Kari, so having her come back was out of the question. I think if they didn't fire the two actors in season five, it would have made the season better and give them enough money to do season six. At least you would have the original three instead of the original one.

I have to say that I would love a new series. I own seasons 1-3, but only watched the first disc of the third season before growing bored with it. Don't know why, but it just didn't feel as good.

If John Rhys-Davies returns (doubtful, but certainly possible) then all the better. I think it'd be better if they stuck with the each episode, one plot style as well. Maybe a few specials that are two-parters; but otherwise have a different universe each week.

And no sliding aliens! Just keep it in the group!

The O'Çonnell brothers left the show due to to Jerry not getting the directing rights he wanted and Charlie went along for the ride.

You're right about Sabrina Lloyd, Kari was causing a lot of trouble between the cast and the network chose Kari as her character was their creation and in fact Jerry O'Çonnell wasn't returning for season 4 either until the last minute.

The Professor was fired due to disagreeing with the management saying they were destroying the show and as a last act of spite the episode that was his last was in fact a mutilated version of his own episode idea and they had his character die in such a cheesy way.

I agree, the Kromaggs appeared in season 1, and were a one off, but the season 4 ones were stupid. I think if the original creator kept control of the series it would've been like a 7 year run, but instead we get two really good seasons, one okay season and not not so good seasons. Many stopped watching the series at the beginning of season 4 due to the poop that was the last half of season 3.

Yes, I totally forgot about what happened with Jerry. Thank you for clarifying that for me.
