Twice now, the Son'a have been referenced in story content posted on the Star Trek Online site. It looks to me like they may feature more prominently in a future update. I'd be torn about this if it's the case. On the one hand, I like the idea of having the Son'a in-game. On the other, I'm afraid of what PWE/Cryptic might do to them.

I always thought the Son'a should be part of the KDF. I am afraid though, their ships will be placed into a lock box with a mission or two that will feature them.

Thanks for the videos kjc.

The Constitution looks gorgeous, that is my favorite ship in the Prime Universe. Sigh, and I'm stuck with a Galaxy that is getting owned by 23rd century Romulan warbirds.

I can see what you meant by the sounds of the TMP pulse phasers, yeah they are not the sounds from TWoK. The beams themselves also look a bit too fast or something, they aren't quite like they looked in the movie. That said, I LOVE pulse phasers, so I'll take them! I generally don't like TNG style phaser banks, so these would look lovely coming out of the batteries on that Connie.

So much lost opportunity for awesome stories and features. STO could be so much better if they had a solid plan in place from when they were bought by PWE. Oh well that's what modding other games is for I suppose.

The pulse phasers have a very odd sound, its sort of similar to wok but doesn't quite have the same 'punch' the sound has in the movie, not sure if the problem is lack of bass or if its just been cleaned up.

What are the rules when it comes to STO-related content spoilers again?

What are the rules when it comes to STO-related content spoilers again?
If you are wanting to discuss the new featured episode and are uncertain if anyone else has played it yet, just wrap it in spoilers tag. (Click on the "Insert" tab at the top of the chat box and select spoiler and give it a title). This way, you can say what you want and if anyone reads it, no one to blame but themselves.

So Cryptic seemed to neglect using the ugly stick when making the new Son'a frigate, though I don't like that they used the particle collector as a dreadnought.

It also seems a bit like J.G. Hertzler's voice acting in this episode was sub-par, at least until the end.

I like the Son'a ship explosion effects, though I wonder why they're there. Are they supposed to be the subspace weapons they have aboard detonating?

Oh, and....kwonos....

Son'a frigate: I was not able to get a good look at the ship when I played the episode. I may have to demorecord a portion to get a good enough look. That said, when there is so little on a ship design, it can be quite difficult to expand to other classes. I know I have tried and failed many times.
J.G. Hertzler: I agree. It did seem flat and was not the Martok I remember. I do hope it gets better in subsequent episodes. I think Sela and Paris was the same way for me. The only one that really seemed to be able to pick the character back up immediately was Tuvok and Nelix.
Son'a ship explosions: I like the ship explosions too. I think you are right that it may be the subspace weapons exploding. I actually wished that was in the movie.

Haha I caught that Kwonos though I do not think it is the fist time I heard it pronounced like that. Can't remember the first time.

So I found the new featured episode to be a little disappointing. They had made a point of using the Nexus and so had all of time and space to play with... and all they use it for is to showcase a new Galaxy interior (which is very nice, I expect it will be on sale at some point). They even do a segment of the mission in a holodeck for crying out loud.
Anyway, piccy of the Galaxy bridge.

EDIT - forgot to add that the third week rewards for this episode includes an omni phaser array for those that have been waiting (including my Fed Tac). Also this weeks rewards includes a TNG Type 3 phaser rifle.

I picked mine up and they look great.

They also released the new Galaxy interior in the C-Store today. It can be yours for the low, low price of 2000 zen. A bit high for an interior but it is exquisite quality.

They're very high quality, but they just don't match any of my crews. I'm also a bit annoyed that you can only use the DSC combadges with the DSC shirt and the DSC boots (probably my favorite part) with the tight pants. I get it with the combadge since it's also rank insignia, but I'd like it if they let you use the 'wrong' rank insignia style on occasion. The TOS sleeve rank stripes would be fun to add onto just about anything, for instance.

According to the patch notes:

In celebration of the 30th Anniversary we are adding some special items for players:
  • Federation Type-7 Shuttle which can be claimed in the Promotions tab of the C-store.
  • Skant Uniforms which can be claimed in the Promotions tab of the C-store.
  • Visit Worf for some free items in the Holodeck of Starfleet Academy or the Klingon Academy!
    • The previously released TNG 25th Anniversary event has returned in celebration of the 30th Anniversary!
    • Players who previously claimed these rewards will not have new rewards to claim.
    • Romulan players cannot claim these rewards.

You can also use the Discovery boots with the 'tucked high' pants now. If they get to 'tucked low' I'll be happy.

The Miracle Worker ships have been unveiled...
Although the stats haven't been released the unveiling mentions +30 power (instead of the usual +20) plus an extra universal console slot - so they're virtual T7 ships
So if they're (literally) overpowereed ships that must mean they won't have to rely on their looks to sell... That's right, we have a new breed of Space Whales!

And some... ehm... beauty shots

Why can't they just make something pretty? I almost stuck to my Nova after unlocking the Research Science Vessel before deciding I really needed the stats. At least the Intrepid is next up. But seriously, why do the new designs have to be so ugly? And why are advanced ships always stupid huge? The Defiant was probably the most advanced ship in the fleet when it came out and it was also one of the smallest. The Intrepid-class is smaller than the Galaxy-class despite being newer and more advanced. Even the Enterprise-E has a smaller crew compliment and fewer decks than the Enterprise-D.

The pretty ships sell due to their looks - so they get the bad stats.
And I'd love it if they did a T6 Nova, I had great fun in the lower tier version and flew it several ranks beyond its tier. It may even be enough to get my science character out of the Vesta.

Defiant was the most advanced pure combat vessel. The idea behind larger vessels is their ability to accommodate more in the way of people and equipment.

Then again, this is STO.

I don't mind the Klingon version. STO is good at designing Klingon designs, pretty bad at designing Feddy designs which is surprising considering how easy it is to design Fed designs.

They butchered the Romulan ones. They were making such beautiful ships for the Republic but these are hideous.
