• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

I wish they had developed Reman escorts rather than Dewans.

Just glad to have a T6 Andorian ship, hoping we will see a T6 Vulcan cruiser soon, maybe one of the later designs perhaps.

The Andorian ship as peaked my interest I'll admit even though I'm a KDF player.

Jem'Hadar faction coming this summer
As a starting faction like the Federation, Klingons, and Romulans, or as a joinable faction? Are we going to be able to make Jem'Hadar characters and fly Dominion ships?

I know that there has long been calls for a Dominion faction, but seeing as they have trouble fleshing out the Klingon and Romulan factions, the arcs are all Fed oriented, and all the Jem'Hadar and Cardassian ships are in lock boxes, I really don't see how they are going to pull this off.

Maybe new designs? Considering the ones seen in the dominion war are about thirty years old, it might make some sense

Can anyone remember if we got free character slots for the last two expansions or did we have to buy additional ones?

We got a new slot for each expansion (Romulan, DR, AoY) - otherwise I wouldn't have played them. It'll be the only reason why I'll start a Jem'Hadar character (but probably not complete it unless there's something really special about it).

Just another money grab like the Romulan faction was.

The Romulan faction in of itself was not a money grab IMHO. All the available bundles geared toward them was. In my opinion, the Legacy of Romulus was the best expansion to date. Great stories in the early Romulan missions. Delta Rising was the biggest money grab to me.

Just a different point of view.

Anything that happens in STO is a money grab. Period. Once we accept that, we can judge the money grabs by what we get out of them.

I will say this about STO and the money grab.

I joined STO in year one when Cryptic was under Atari. Back then, anything bought in the C-Store was purely cosmetic. There were no lock boxes. Sadly, Atari would not invest in Cryptic to allow it to grow the game. There was the "Year of Hell" where Atari put a freeze on Cryptic and would not allow them to do anything. They couldn't even hire anyone. Then Atari put Cryptic up for sale. The money grab only came after PWI bought Cryptic from Atari. As much as I dislike it, I tolerate it because, had Atari not sold Cryptic, the studio and game would most likely be extinct by now.

Speaking of money grabs... anyone getting a $350 printed ship?
I think I'll pass and buy a $25 Midway when I get it to work!

Atari actually filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2013, so I think the freeze by them was because they couldn't afford to do anything.

So would this thread be the appropriate place to discuss the new featured episode (in spoiler tags, of course), or should I post this elsewhere?

So, was there a point to this episode other than giving us players who wanted more content something to gnash on for a minute? Nothing was really added to the story, though that makes sense if the story is meant to continue starting with season 15.

The two things I'm disappointed in both involve the aliens that were victims of Tzenkethi genocide. The two species introduced in this episode, being the Eohki and the Atossee, reused costumes from exploration cluster species (the Povini were similar, but I didn't realize it at the time) rather than come up with something new. The thing I'm most disappointed by was the Draconians. When they were first introduced as holograms, I was quite dubious about their appearance, based solely on their head shape. That uncertainty is now gone. The Draconians look AMAZING! These guys could have been the next major adversary in STO and not looked completely stupid. These guys could hold off the inevitable third wave of robo-dino's for another half-season at least. Instead, this gem of character design is doomed to be dead before we even meet them.

Still half expecting either set of Dinos to come back with some kinda of huge Mechagodzilla boss with laser eyes and missile fingers.

Not surprised the route they have taken. Sounds like it's just a species not a faction.

I hope they start to release re species tokens as it really is needed with the way they're constantly introducing new species

The revamped DS9 map is now on tribble. I will say that it is awesome. I will post some screenshots when I can.

A few Devs on Reddit have said that is impossible as species are too hardcoded into the character's data. Thus, to change a species you would have to change more or less everything (code) wise on a character. t would just be too messy.

We are also getting a Dominion Faction with Jem Hadar as a race and re-models of their ships so to not cheat the people who got their ships in Lockboxes.
