• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

I re-watched Chamber of Secrets today since I finally replaced my missing DVD. It's kind of hilarious how much Snape is the fair and level-headed professor in that one. Maybe it's just that he has so many scenes with Lockhart. Also, apparently, "I didn't know you could read," was ad libbed.

I liken the difference between Vulcan and Romulan to be the same as between the High Elf and Wood Elf. Though Romulan would fit with Dark Elf / Drow.

Also:
Dwarf = Tellerite
Dragonborn = Gorn

Nathan Fillion is awesome. Also, I see that Cade has finally gotten Gaul's name right.

Totally agree about Nathan Fillion.
Wish they'd do a movie like this would be epic. Better than the game imo.

As long as they got the right writers.

I bet Joss Whedon could do wonders with it.

I re-watched The Phantom Menace the other day and I just love how half-hearted Palpatine's protestations that Padme not put herself in harms way sound. If you don't know who he is it just comes across as some more wooden acting, but given the strength of his acting in the rest of the movie and the other prequel movies it comes across like Palpatine's trying to hide how happy he is that Padme's about to dispose of herself and save him the trouble.

Hugh Hefner has died. I feel like I should say something profound, but I'm having a hard time coming up with anything that isn't dirty. Um, he's going to be buried next to Marilyn Monroe. That's a thing.

Edit: In all seriousness, he actually helped with gay rights and his magazine really does publish serious articles, at one point being extremely respected for its literary and journalistic content.

I'm sick and watching the first episode of The Orville. I like how the most experienced senior officer just happens to be the one who was on a Star Trek show.

Edit: There is no way it's a coincidence that the security uniforms are red.

Edit2: I now really want the Orville uniforms in STO.

Edit3: Now that I think about it, I really want the Galaxy Quest uniforms, too.

I don't suppose anyone has the Dragon Age 2 logo with just the blood dragon, no text, shadow, or Hawke? It looks a bit out of place with my other Dragon Age tiles.

My birthday present to myself arrived :)
A copy of Mr Scott's Guide to the Enterprise, mint condition found by pure chance on Amazon for the princely sum of £2
And a Valdore for attack wing, which I'll post a pic of when there's actually some daylight.

Finally caught up with The Orville, and I can't understand why the critics give it such a hard time. I mean get off the high chair, and enjoy it as it is.

It definitely feels more "old school" Trek than "try hard edgy" Disco. And its very endearing to watch if you're biased with the TNG era shows. Typical Family Guy jokes aside, the tone, intro, music, visuals and even the sfx are all spot on.

I like the Orville but I don't love it. I think it tries too hard to be Star Trek instead of being a smart parody of Star Trek while making its own thing, like Galaxy Quest achieved. Some jokes are hit or miss. I just wish it did its own thing instead of trying to be "Funny 90s Star Trek". For what it is though, it's enjoyable. I really like the blob character, I wish he was one of the mains just cause of how absurd it would be. I also find the security chief kinda cute, so that keeps me watching. Ahem...

This is the best I could find for you Cabal:

Excellent, thank you! Where did that come from, anyway? I simply could not find one.

In unrelated news, I think I may have hit my PSU's wattage limit. I added another HDD and then my optical drive stopped working. I'll need to do some more tests. That hard drive is just to back up some files, though, so it doesn't need to stay connected.

The photo is apparently the background in Electronic Arts' webpage for DA2's DLC Mark of the Assassin. Found here: https://www.ea.com/en-gb/games/dragon-age/dragon-age-2-mark-of-the-assassin.

I just googled images for the Dragon Age 2 logo and scrolled down the list. There was one which had this logo and just said Dragon Age 2; when I opened it I could see the other one I sent you on the list of similar images on the bottom right. Glad it was what you needed.

Sorry to read about your PSU, that sucks. I've been out of the PC game for a long time, at this point I just use my PC to run Armada 2, the original Knights of the Old Republic and to browse the internet. My PC can no longer be upgraded because it uses AGP video cards, which don't exist anymore. It is so old that the last game that it ran, sort of choppy, was Mass Effect 2. Sigh. Oh well. o_O

Yep, I just can't push that many things with my PSU. Fortunately that HDD was just to put some stuff for storage, so I filled it up and unplugged it. My optical drive is working again, though, so that's nice.

I tried that and just wasn't getting anything. Thanks again, though; it's exactly what I was looking for.

I was actually looking at what it would cost to build a new PC the other day for both my dad and my cousin, and it looks like you can actually build a decent gaming rig for under $500 USD now. I was able to work out a build that was better than mine and about $400, though that didn't include Windows or peripherals. Hard drives in particular are dirt cheap now. Might be something to look into.

Plus side to building your own rig is: no bloat ware.

After a lot of work the last few days, a 7cm version of the B'Gin is now available on Shapeways.

Did anyone else just get a coupon from Steam for 50% off Civ6 Deluxe? Still a bit more than I want to spend on it right now, so if anyone wants my coupon, PM me and I'll send it to your Steam account. It expires on the morning of October 30th.

I got the same one. Probably also not buying Civ VI anytime soon. ;)

I got it too. Tried the demo and honestly wasn't impressed. Didn't seem to play as well as it looked. I won't be getting it either.

Like 4, 5, and BE, 6 probably just needs a couple expansions to get the gameplay nailed down.

Also, I have figured out what's missing from Civ5: Elvis.

Would anyone who has Legacy be willing to pop into the ODF file for the Strider and tell me how many meters long it is? Thanks!
