• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

So, @Rifraf suggested Sunday, and it sounds like that works for @Terra_Inc, too. I know it works for me. So, times. Terra's at +2, Rifraf's at -6, and I'm at -8. I'm not sure I would be competitive, or necessarily awake, before 6 AM my time, which would be 8 AM Rifraf's time and 4 PM Terra's time. We also don't want to keep Terra up too late, so 8 or 9 PM Terra's time (noon-ish for us Americans) would probably be the latest time to start given a small map and quick speed, unless we want to pick up the match again next week. I tested with my cousin and we can save and resume multi-player matches. Anyone willing to commit to a particular time, or should we just wait until we're all listed as Online in our Steam Friends Lists? Speaking of which, Rifraf, I just sent you a friends request since apparently that hadn't happened already, somehow. Looks like you two aren't Friends right now, either.
Well, if you want to do 8 AM Cabal that's 10 AM for me and 6 PM for Terra. We could get a couple of hours in? Or somewhere around those hours at least. I've never done multi on Steam, do I have to have mods disabled on my end?

I'll add you SciFiFan when I log in and Terra too if I haven't received an invite yet

Anything past, say, 20:00 probably works best. Earlier would also be okay, but I'd have to take a break in between to get some stuff done. But then again, maybe you'd want to grab some lunch in between anyway

As for the specifics, I've never played multiplayer Civ before, so I have no idea how long the game would take. I for one have no problem with resuming the game next weekend, if necessary. Regarding mods, as far as I know Civ5 does not natively support mods in multiplayer, so there's nothing to turn off.

Sounds like a good target time to me.

I'm not entirely sure either. Mostly depends on how long we take for our turns, I suppose. It sounds like the 'quick' game speed is popular for multiplayer, though. I would also be fine resuming next weekend.

Yeah, I think we don't have to worry about mods. The Enhanced User Interface mod does work in multiplayer, though. I was able to play with it with my cousin, who did not have it. Has to do with it being coded as a DLC.

I'd like to have been able to play, but with my new job I work Friday - Monday. At least I get three days off! :D (I'm also still at work right now)

I know the feeling. I work four tens too. From 10pm to 830 am. At least I have Sat-Mon off now.

It was a blast. I am hooked now. I can't wait to continue though I'll be practicing all week to remember all I forgot. I told Cabal I hadn't played since 2014.

Cabal, Terra and I were playing Civ 5. No one won as the game is still in progress. I think we're all being nice to each other for the first game though to get our bearings. :)

Yeah, that was a lot of fun! I do think part of the reason we're still being nice to each other is because we're so far away, though. We still haven't expanded enough to step on each others' toes. I think we're on turn 70 or so.

We just went with tiny/pangaea/quick since it's the first match and we don't know how long it will take.

I searched a few times, but I can't seem to find you on Steam.

If anyone wants to know, highlights of this week's continuation of the Civ5 match include everyone nabbing wonders just before Rifraf completed them, Rifraf spreading Judaism to the masses, Terra starting a Cthulu cult, myself founding Redshirtism, and Rifraf and I learning a bit about the Italian Fascist Party.

Nice, what civilizations are involved? Who's who?
I'm England (though with a Romulan naming scheme for my cities; I call it the Romulan Sea Empire), Rifraf's France, Terra's Germany, and there's an AI player as Sweden.

Could a new player join mid game or would a new session need to be started. I don't have the game but I am curious.

I'll have to look into that. There are no free player slots, but judging by the lobby someone might be able to take over Sweden. I'm not sure that would be a good idea at this point, though. Sweden's probably surviving on the AI bonuses and is unlikely to have a decent economy or happy citizens without them.

Edit: Though I suppose the other players could donate gold so they can buy buildings to get on their feet quickly. However, even with all that, the AI is a ways behind in score after I burned down Helsinki.

After poking around in the multiplayer lobby, it looks like a human player can take over a slot occupied by an AI player and continue their game. Similarly, it seems that human players can agree to swap, allowing, for instance, Rifraf to continue as my England and me to continue as Rifraf's France. Sweden really is probably in poor condition, though.

I feel like there weren't as many highlights from this week's round of Civ, but Terra founded the World Congress (and is quite a bit ahead of us in tech, need to watch that), Vatican City demanded conversion to Redshirtism, and Rifraf kept forgetting he was the second highest scoring player.
