Star Trek Online is exploring new frontiers this fall. Star Trek Online will be launched on both Xbox One and PS4 this fall. See the announcement here. Some of the changes that they needed to make for it to work on the consoles will also be released for PC. I don't have either system but, If I do ever end up with one, at lease I will have something familiar to play....hehe.

Beat me to it. I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, potentially bigger player base may jump start significant development...
On the other hand... "We are Starfleet" - no mention of the other factions in that trailer. Also the streamlining of the system could mean "dumbing down" like they did with the skills. And finally, my computer doesn't have two dozen processors and already struggles with some of the graphics (generally anything with excess particle dynamics like nebula and ship plasma), so I hope they keep in mind PC abilities when reworking the engine.

We are Arc Games. We will add your ergonomical and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your consoles will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile.

They invade our systems and we fall back. They assimilate entire consoles and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far, no further! And *I* will make them pay for what they've done!

Captain Hellkite and his whale... ;-P

If it's a decent port, I might give it a try. I'll have to see what they've done with the interface. Legacy was a disaster as far as that went.

Steven Ricosa has already confirmed there would not be any cross platform play and no transfers.......at least with the PS4 port. One could assume it would be the same for the Xbox port as well.

Well why would they even bother with this then. I'm not starting new characters to play on my console. I'll just stick with PC then.

Yup I don't know why they are even bothering wasting time and money on this. May as well stick to their expansion cash grabs.

Wait a minute, is this a paid expansion and not a free one like the new seasons?

like the temporal pack that gives you the new ships and uniforms associated with the TOS expansion. For the low low price of $129.99 - a 52% saving on what each bit costs individually.

Not interested. Except in the Ranger class. That looks bitchin.

Yeah as SFF says it's a cash grab for the items, the expansion is free to play.

I really don't see the point in paying top dollar for virtual items. I'd rather spend my limited funds on other things. Something that is value for money. If I had a huge disposal income sure I probably would sink money into this.

I am still up in the air as to whether or not to fully invest in this game.

I would probably play it as a F2P player first for about 6 months and see how you go with it before investing into it.

I have notice a lot of comments on the Ranger class. I agree it looks real nice but for me, it is the Gemini class that is most striking. To each their own I guess.

Is it just me, or are the STO ships looking more and more like they're straight out of TAS? I'm specifically looking at the abominations they call nacelles on the Nautilus, Theseus, Sagittarius, and Paladin.

Look at an image of the Enterprise J and you will have your answer. The designs of those nacelles are not Cryptic originals....they are canon.

Not really. The nacelles on the Ent-J are much thinner than the blobs seen on the new STO ships.

"most players will be sitting a good distance from their TV's while they play"

That's not how I remember gaming...

Almost hate to say this but, I think I would like to see that LCARS window applied to the PC version. Even if it was as an option to do so. That would add a ton of immersion to the game.

Interesting article, now if only they copied the gamers characters over to the console server that would make this something to be excited about.

I might play it only the console only to make a TOS character to mess around with.

I had the same thought. If I had a console, I would use it for a TOS character. At this point, I don't know if I will beyond tribble.

Yea, when I first read about the console and the trait, I wasn't too impressed. Plus, I used to use escorts, destroyers, raiders, heavy escorts, and the like, but haven't done so in nearly two years. So an escort is not quite my thing anymore. Still, I'll get the ship just to have it, I suppose, mainly for the admiralty card though.

The console does interest me a little as I have a sci captain that I run tets on. Unfortunately, the console seems to be able to be put on only Vorgon ships. I guess the next lock box will be Vorgon. But, I do agree with Elrond, it will be more for the admiralty card than anything.
